[EF#10 – Weekly Challenge] Gado-gado

rujak cingur

Did you find something strange in the opening of this article? If you did not find it, I’ll tell you. The title of this article is “Gado-gado” but the illustration is Rujak Cingur. I will tell about that strange in next paragraphs.

Several years ago, after graduating from college and before job placement, I and all graduates have to do job training at a tax office. The tax office is located at Pancoran Street. Not far from the statue of Pancoran. The duration of the job training about one or three months, I forget exactly.

The team in each tax office consists of about eight or ten people. During the job training, I and my friends were divided into several groups to work on the entire section. One group consists of two people. Every few days, we will move to other section. Our jobs were filing some documents and data recording. We got reward for what we did. We got money or free meals at the cafeteria.

When we got money, we always got gado-gado for our lunch. We did not get bored eating different types of boiled vegetables such as cabbage, kale, beans, potatoes, pumpkin, pare, corn, cucumber and others that mix with peanut sauce. For me, I will ask gado-gado without pare. I do not like pare. Sometimes, I ate with rice, sometimes with lontong. Gado-gado’s taste was delicious, plus we can get a lot of krupuk.

I think, the name gado-gado is suitable for this blog. Because in this blog, I post poetry, my daily life, short stories, flash fiction, chattering children, gombalan, comics, reviews, and photos. They mixed together in one blog.

Apparently, the foods I like always closely with peanut sauce. When I was in elementary school, the snack that I like is the Rujak Mie. The yellow noodles and other foods material that are watered with peanut sauce. I also like sate with peanut sauce. Finally, my tongue still keeps the pleasure of Rujak Cingur that I ate some time ago during a visit to Surabaya.

Well, after reading the whole story above, you have found a connection between the “Gado-gado”, the title in this article with Rujak Cingur illustration. Although, the real reason I do that because I do not have a photo of gado-gado for illustration. I just have a photo of Rujak Cingur.

😀

I thought the photo is gado-gado (but I wonder because the sauce looks darker). I love foods containing peanut sauce, too. It’s hard to stop eating them.🙂
